The Bank of England has cut the bank base rate to 0.5%, with effect from 5 March 2009.

The Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has cut the bank base rate (BBR) by 0.5%.
The BBR is now 0.5%. This is the lowest BBR since records began.
